SHIBUYA GAMES WEEK 2026

SHIBUYA GAMES WEEK 2026
2026

SHIBUYA GAMES WEEK 2026 was the first large-scale urban game festival to transform the entire district of Shibuya into a vibrant hub of game culture under the concept “Walk Shibuya. Discover Games.” Co-organized as a city-wide initiative, the event connected more than 30 venues—including Shibuya PARCO, Shibuya Sakura Stage, and Shibuya Stream—to create a distributed festival experience across the city. The program featured a diverse mix of activities, including indie game showcases, game art exhibitions, retro game experiences, talk sessions, and interactive stamp rallies. By integrating these elements into the urban environment, the festival redefined games not just as entertainment, but as a form of culture, communication, and creative expression, encouraging meaningful interactions between creators and players throughout the city. As a co-organizer, the project involved end-to-end contributions across planning, production, and operations. This included designing the overall festival structure, developing content such as the 404 Game Center exhibition and talk sessions, and coordinating large-scale initiatives like the Ekimae Game Park. The team also managed on-site operations, built partnerships with venues and stakeholders, and helped shape a new model for connecting game culture with urban space—creating an open, walkable experience that fostered community and discovery.
